Garbage disposals fail in predictable ways: jammed grinding plate (recoverable), leaking from the bottom (motor seal failure, replace), humming without grinding (capacitor or motor), or dead (electrical or motor end-of-life). Recoverable or Replace?
A jammed disposal is often recoverable — we free the grinding plate, clear the obstruction, and reset the motor. A leaking seal or seized motor is an end-of-life signal — repair parts cost more than a new unit. We test, identify the failure mode, and present the honest recommendation.

Repair or Replace.
Repairs (clearing a jam, resetting tripped overload) run $120–$220. Full replacement with a quality 3/4 to 1 HP unit runs $325–$550 installed. You see both prices and we explain the longevity tradeoff before you decide.

Install
Mount, Wire, Connect.
Replacement disposals are mounted to the existing sink flange (or a fresh flange if the old one's worn), wired into the existing electrical, connected to the drain trap and dishwasher line. Standard install runs 60–90 minutes. Heavy under-sink reorganization adds time but we discuss it upfront.

Run, Drain, No Leaks.
We run water and the disposal for two full cycles, check every connection for drips, and verify dishwasher drainage works on the new tie-in. You see it grind, drain, and shut off cleanly before we leave.
